The ASQ Award for Best Airport in Africa went to Cape Town International Airport (CTIA).
Commenting on this success, Mr. John Neville, Group Executive Aviation Services said “Service quality is a key focus of the Airports Company SA Ltd. It is in this regard that the management and staff of ACSA continuously monitor, evaluate and plan for adequate infrastructure, efficient facilitation, updated technology and professional services to enhance the experience of the passenger. To date the network of airports on the ASQ programme has demonstrated that ACSA has provided services that are reflective of being world-class and continuously improving.”
As Africa’s most award winning airport as well as the gateway to one of the world’s most preferred tourist destinations, Cape Town and the Western Cape, the airport recently undergone a complete transformation when its R2.3 billion capital expansion programme was completed. At the centre of this expansion was the Central Terminal Building, CTIA’s new terminal which offers visitors a spacious terminal hub showcasing the culture, beauty and warmth of Cape Town and the Western Cape through the design, décor and layout in various sections of the terminal. The airport now also boasts a new road network system, allowing smoother vehicular movement to and from the airport as well as a parking complement of over 7,000 parking bays.
The central terminal building’s (CTB’s) consolidated Domestic and International check-in area was a first for CTIA. To add to the convenience of this consolidated check in area, the upper roadway allows passengers to be dropped off in front of the check-in area, a significant reduction in walking distances. With the new consolidated car rental facility, the Transport Plaza, located opposite the CTB, passenger movement is now streamlined to one area for ease of passenger movement. Other projects contributing to the smooth running of the airport are the additional aircraft parking bays and air bridges for both international and domestic flights.
Cape Town International Airport remains Africa’s most award winning airport. “We hope that all Capetonians are proud of this achievement, it belongs to us all”, concluded Deidre Hendricks, Communications Manager at ACSA CTIA.
Second place in the Best Airport in Africa category once again goes to Cairo Airport.

For this confidence and feedback we would like to say “Thank You” to every single past, present and future passenger using our Airport to travel to or through Egypt and especially Cairo”.
