The title of best airport in the 15 – 25 million passenger size category was awarded to Seoul Gimpo Airport.
Mr. Si-Chul Sung, Chief Executive Officer, Korea Airports Corporation, commented on this achievement: “Gimpo Airport will give the best service to passengers through building a strong airport community with our staff members, and we will continue investing and improving service facilities and qualities to provide even more enjoyable airport experience to passengers and other airport users."

Gimpo International Airport (GMP) is unrivalled around the world for its close access to downtown, making it a preferred gateway for business passengers. The airport operates 56 international flights to Japan and China as well as domestic flights to all major Korean cities. Over 18 million passengers and 190,883 tons of luggage travel through GMP each year. The airport is operated by Korea Airports Corporation (KAC) which manages 7 international and 7 domestic airports in Korea.
Gimpo International Airport pursues customer-oriented service management to make an airport that connects you to a "fluttering experience and future". Now, Gimpo is not just a place for taking flights but a space for amusement after the completion of Sky Park, a cultural complex which provides you from shopping to leisure facilities including mega shopping mall, cinema, and theme park, etc. Gimpo has continuously cooperated with all members of the airport including government agencies, airlines and retailers in order to further improve its services.
As a result of these achievements, Gimpo won the first prize by ASQ research for two consecutive years in 2011, followed by 2010, in the category of 15-25M size airports. Especially, Gimpo was awarded first prize of convenient parking facilities out of all the airports regardless of the size as its outstanding parking facilities were highly recognized for its additional parking areas and newly built passageways between parking lots and terminals.
To further improve the airport experience, newly developed public golf course facilities near GMP will also contribute to the urban environment and development of the local community. Finally, the airport also plans to remodel the domestic airport terminal by 2014 and the international airport terminal by 2017 to keep providing the most pleasant environment for its airport passengers.

Second place in this category was awarded to Chongqing Airport.

As one of the largest hub airports in China, CQA was completed and put into operation in 1990. Currently, it owns two runways and terminals covering an area of 200,000 square meters served by 70 domestic and overseas airlines with over 100 destinations. The year 2011 has seen the number of flights, passengers and cargo hit 166,800, 19.05 million and 236,700 tonnes respectively.
With a professional team providing perfect facilities, observing excellent managerial ideas and presenting exquisite services, CQA has proactively followed the concept of “Advance the Chinese Services” through increased cooperation with service partners such as airlines to jointly improve the operational efficiency and service quality, thanks to which passenger satisfaction has been on a steady rise.
Upholding the scientific planning, construction, management and operation, CQA has been striving to build itself into a comprehensive large-scale hub airport. By the year of 2015, the new expansion project will be completed consisting of three runways and terminals of 700,000 square meters to meet the annual demand of 45 million passengers and 1.1 million tonnes of cargo.
CQA will continue to endeavor for the realization of excellent services so as to become an outstanding partner in the global civil aviation industry.

Hangzhou Airport was awarded third place in the 15 – 25 million passenger size category.
Mr. Fang Chunlin, CEO of Hangzhou International Airport Co., Ltd. commented on this achievement saying “The ASQ programme is a useful platform for us to share experience and best service level with global airports, and contrast our service with some of the best airports in the world helping us recognize the improvements where we needed. Since its inception in 2000, Hangzhou International Airport(HIA) which is located in the Yangtze Delta Economic Zone in Zhejiang Province had achieved outstanding success. In 2007, the passenger throughput reached 10 million for the first time. And in 2011, the record hit a new high at 17.51 million passengers. HIA passed the aviation safety inspection organized by the Civil Aviation Authority in 2009, and passed the aviation security inspection in November 2010. It was certified with ISO9001: 2008 Quality Certification in September 2010. Both safety and service quality of HIA had got an outstanding achievement. Currently, 43 domestic and international airlines operate 159 routes to 19 countries including 104 domestic and international cities.
In the 5 years, since the airport joined Airports Council International and participated in the ASQ programe, the staff members of the airport have advocated these new service concepts“prompt response, maximum care, and expectation exceeding”. They were prepared for the demand when the second phase of the airport construction project was initiated in 2007. The facilities were completed in 2010, including the 96,000-square-meter international terminal and the 226,600-square-meter area for airfield state site by-pass taxiway, public parking space, taxi parking station, and roads, and about 100,000 square meters of the domestic terminal. An additional runway and other auxiliary facilities will be completed in 4th quarter 2012. Till then the airport will be able to meet the annual demand of 25.6 million passengers, 500,000 tonnes of cargo, and 260,000 airport movements. To further raise the service level, and create safe convenient and comfortable for the passengers, HIA has launched a series of new services and focuses on humanization service.
