Keflavik Airport received the prestigious airport for Best Regional Airport in Europe.
"We are extremely proud of this recognition. This award clearly states that we are offering one of the best services in Europe and it motivates us for further improvement. We have used the ASQ survey as an important device to judge which service aspects need to be improved and we´ll continue using this device in the future!” commented Björn Óli Hauksson CEO of Isavia.
In 2011, the number of passengers visiting KEF increased dramatically by 17.9 percent compared to 2010. Transit passengers with connecting flights at KEF increased even more or around 25%. With this high increase of passengers going through the airport we aimed at keeping the customer service standard high with good preparation and on-going training in Airport Security and on the floor. It is imperative that everyone who is in direct contact with the passenger is well trained and informed of all the services available at the airport.
Furthermore, we know that waiting for a flight can be stressful; this is why the Keflavik International Airport team takes pride in comfort and relaxed atmosphere. What makes the airport stand out is the modern facilities that are designed with the traveller in mind. The terminal building is furnished with tasteful and pleasant décor, providing passengers with a stress-free environment to rest before flights.
Another key factor in offering quality service is maintaining good relationship with the airlines. When passengers are grading either airports or airlines they look at it as the same thing. If the airline is not doing its best it reflects on how passengers experience the airport and vice versa. Therefore, we always aim to have strong and long lasting relationship with airlines because in the end it will lead to happier passengers.
